Breakthrough Color Temperature
Simply stated, IBEX’s LED driven 4300K color temperature breaks the barriers of conventional slit lamp observation. The homogenous radiant white light delivers a host of observation gains including enhanced tissue fluorescence, better tissue differentiation, increased depth of field and shadow reduction – the latter is especially useful during increasingly popular indirect illumination.
Not familiar with color temperature? Color temperature is a characteristic of visible light, usually warm (yellowish), daylight (white) or cool (bluish). It’s measured in degrees of Kelvin (°K). During the past ten years the 4000K-4500K range has evolved as the color temperature of choice in today’s high-end operating microscopes and modern surgical suites for good reason: It creates superb contrast and enables surgeons to better differentiate tissue.
Advanced Optics: Pushing the Boundaries
IBEX’s 5-Step Galilean optical design incorporates a conventional design that includes three sets of lenses within a small turret and a rotating drum that places five magnifications at your fingertips. Thereafter, the new optical design is anything but conventional.
A sophisticated integration of wide-field eye pieces, prisms, lenses and light-enhancing coatings deliver pure light transmission, stunning clarity and large ,industry first 43mm field of view. Overall, it’s the convergence of modern advances in optics applied to a proven optical design.
Superb Light Efficiency
One of the most significant advances in lens design during recent years is improved lens coating technology. Today’s coatings greatly enhance the way the optics reflect and transmit light. Ibex lenses embrace these advances and after painstaking and meticulous fine tuning of coatings, layer thicknesses and refractive indices, we minimized light loss, balanced output and increased brightness 20% to 60% compared to bare illumination. The result is robust, homogeneous luminance and sharp, edge-to-edge viewing virtually free of chromatic aberration.
Helicoid Eyepieces & Telescoping Eye Cups
The helicoid style eyepieces twist up and down for diopter adjustment and operate independent of the eyecups. This allows them to be left at proper position for your vision. Additionally, telescoping eye cups at the front of the oculars provide 18mm of eye relief, enabling users with or without eye glasses to experience the maximum field of view. How it works: Users wearing eye glasses push the cups in while users without eye glasses extend the cups outward. Both maximize the optical system to view the full image.
Extraordinary LED Illumination
The single element LED is an evolution in slit lamp engineering. With high-contrast color temperature, impressive color rendering and exceptional illumination range of 24,420 lux to more than 1,000,000 lux, the IBEX LED is exceptional during direct, indirect and diffuse illumination.
With excellent ventilation and the latest heat managing materials, the IBEX LED will operate with consistency for 10,000-20,000 hours, virtually eliminating downtime due to spent illumination sources.
Further, to help improve patient comfort and safety during higher intensity observation, IBEX LED slit lamps minimize beam temperature and radiant energy with 80%-90% less heat to the patient’s eye, as compared to tungsten and halogen illumination.
Safety First – The Elimination of UV, IR, and Blue Light components
While the human eye is specifically designed to sense a small portion of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum (i.e. visible light), it is also susceptible to damage when exposed to high energy levels across the EM spectrum.
IBEX LED Slit Lamps utilize a combination of proprietary technologies and electronics to block 100% of the infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), and the “Blue Light Effect” or Blue Light Hazard Range.
Elimination of the UV, IR, and blue light components substantially reduce retinal irradiation during retinal visualization. Long-term safety is definitely something to consider when purchasing new instruments for your clinic.
Fine-Tuned Spectrum
The output illumination optimizes irradiance within specific 460-470nm and 570-580nm wavelengths. The result is distinct peaks of irradiance for enhanced viewing of the anterior chamber plus added versatility of improved fundus observation.
Tower Design Versatility
IBEX’s tower illumination design provides 5-20 degrees vertical tilt towards the patient to move the slit below horizontal. This helps reduce shadowing during indirect illumination and illuminates the oblique muscle during gonioscopy. Additionally, a control knob conveniently located at the bottom of the tower enables quick left or right slit decentration (+/- 5 degrees), narrowly offsetting the tower to illuminate the sclera.

Finally, a simple and fast way to level your slit lamp – regardless of sloped floors or bent slit lamp arms. Just mount your IBEX slit lamp on your instrument stand – the same as always – then use the included hex key to turn the leveling screws. That’s it and the System is included as a standard accessory with every IBEX slit lamp. We’re the first to offer such a system at no additional cost.

LED illumination not only provides a superior platform for our engineers to carry out highly customized and very specific performance standards, it also reflects our commitment to efficiency and reducing waste. Designed to last more than 10,000 hours, when compared to conventional incandescent and halogen bulbs that typically last 60-90 hours, there really is no comparison.
The LED converts 80% of electrical power into light, with minimal heat production. It’s very efficient while tungsten (incandescent) and halogen light, in contrast, convert only 20% of the electrical energy to light — the rest is lost to heat.

Three-Year Comprehensive Warranty
IBEX Slit Lamps are guaranteed for thirty-six months against faulty workmanship, materials or factory assembly. The Warranty is a Return-To-Base (RTB) Basis at the cost of the customer. All parts and services rendered are included at no additional cost to the customer and in most cases the work is completed within 2-3 working days.
The IBEX LED is designed to operate with consistency for 15,000-20,000 hours of continuous use and therefore is considered as a non-consumable item. In the unlikely event of LED failure within or after the warranty period, please contact Trevi Technology, Inc. for a replacement.
